2005 "Gallant Cup" Toronto Xiangqi Open
November 8 — Peter Sung has won his fourth Toronto Championship, and his first since 1986, by upsetting reigning Canadian champion, Zheng XiMing. Had XiMing won, it would have been his third straight title.

The match was comprised of two games. In Game One, Peter scored with a violent attack with the black pieces against XiMing's hesitant opening. In Game Two, he fended off XiMing's efforts to complicate with Black, and secured a safe draw.
The third-place match went to Jimmy Yao, who won both games against former champion, Paul Ng. The matches were held Sunday November 6 at First Markham place.
These players qualified by taking the top four places at six-round tournament held at the Scarborough Seniors Club in October. Also at this tournament, Li, Chong won the Senior Championship and Liu, BoYang won the Youth Championship.
