The championships ended shortly after noon. Pan ZhenBo defeated Zhao GuoRong to claim the Men's Champion title. In the women campus, Chen LiChun had a perfect score of six wins to mount the Champion throne.Closing and prize-giving ceremony will be held on 7 Dec at 1900 hr at the Karo Room, Hotel Soechi. 13th Asian Xiangqi Individual Championships, Medan

The Indonesian Chinese Chess Association is hosting this event from 2nd to 8th December 2007, at the Hotel Soechi, Medan. 25 xiangqi experts (18 male, 7 female) will be contesting for the two Champion titles.

Medan, a flourishing port town, is the gateway to Sumatra, Indonesia. The beautiful Lake Toba, and the Batak buildings and culture in this area have attracted tourists from all over the world.

Thanh Bao finishes third in Macau

Nguyen Thanh Bao finished third at the world Chinese Chess Championship, which ended in Macau on Sunday.

Thanh Bao failed to upset Hong Zhi from China in the final game and finished third after China's leader Xu Yin Chuan, who beat fellow Vietnamese Nguyen Vu Quan in the final round.

Quan finished third in the 2005 contest.

The China team finished top of the leader board, ahead of Vietnam in second.

The International Mind Sports Games is OFFICIALLY set for China in 2008.

1ST INT'L MIND SPORTS GAMES SET FOR 'O8 IN CHINA:

(9/30/2007) The First International Mind Sport Games will be held in Beijing in October, 2008, reports Roy Laird, Chairman of the AGA Board of Directors. Calling it "An Olympics for mental competition," Laird tells the EJ that "The concept became a reality on September 26, when International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) President Jose Damiani announced that the four IMSA members (Go, Bridge, Chess, Draughts), along with Xiang-Qi (Chinese Chess), will hold the first ever World Mind Sports Games (WMSG) from October 3 through 18, 2008 in Beijing,"which will have just hosted the Olympic games a few weeks before.

This will be the first such international mind sport competition under General asociation of International Sports Federation (GAISF)auspices. "GAISF works closely with the Olympics movement, but don't expect to see go being played between ice skating and gymnastics on Wide World of Sports," says Laird. "Instead, a parallel set of competitions is evolving, through the recently formed International Mind Sports Association." It is expected that more than 2,500 players from over 100 countries will compete in 25 to 30 medal events in the WMSG. In addition to individual events, team and pair competitions will be also be held. "Through the International Mind Sport Games, more people will become aware of the value and joy of mental competition," says Laird.

On the morning of 15, the 2007 national chess individual championships ushered in the final moments; male, female group produced a new national championship. Man Group Zhejiang Zhao XinXin playoff defeat five national championship tournament GM Lv Qin, with real ability promoted to the 25th Grand Masters.
Beijing Dan Tang slow chess staged a miraculous reversal, defeated Shanghai Ouyang Qilin, and won the women's individual title and promotion to the National Women Grand Masters.

2007 Chinese National Champion games record

Cambodian, Singaporean players hold xiangqi friendship competition

Four Singaporean players won four Cambodian counterparts by 20:12 on Saturday in a Chinese chess friendship competition hosted by the Cambodia Chess Federation (CCF).

The Cambodian players want to view the competition as an opportunity for them to learn experience and join the world in the field of chess playing, said CCF President Ly Huot. The CCF is the sponsor of the one-day game against Singapore's Beidou Chinese Chess Club.

Goh Thian Lye, head of the Beidou delegation, said that the game aims to help the Cambodian players improve their skills and CCF enter international chess organizations.

The players conducted four rounds of races. Each player held one race with all the four ones from the other side.

The Singaporean delegation arrived here on Friday on a three- day visit at the invitation of CCF.
